Since I’ve never been to Meeker (until yesterday), I’ve also not been on any of the roads leading out of town.
It’s a new experience as we head north on Colorado Highway 13 toward Craig, then turn east on US Highway 40 – and 91 miles after leaving Meeker, we arrive in Steamboat Springs.
Ahead is Rabbit Ears Pass (9,426 feet – not quite a Pass-a-Palooza™), which we cross twice. Then, it’s on to Gore Pass (9,524 – also a not quite a Pass-a-Palooza™), which, more traditionally, we cross once on our way to Walden.

We end our day in Walden, known as the Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado. Walden is home to the Antlers Inn, where we stay tonight.
