Skies were cloudy and smoky at departure time. It was chilly for July. But the clock said 9 am, so it was time to leave.
Today begins Trip Three of this summer’s riding extravaganza.
Clarence is dressed for success.
Familiarly, we roll over McClure Pass, to Hotchkiss, over the Grand Mesa to De Beque, and end up in Meeker at the end of a 212-mile day.
Meeker is not familiar. Never been there. But I do recognize the name.
Lauren, who cuts my hair (and Clarence’s, too — but not at the same time) has a Golden Retriever named Meeker. She named him after the town where she adopted him – Meeker.
Meeker, the dog.
So that’s pretty much all I know about Meeker, except that’s where we’re staying tonight, at the Blue Spruce Inn. For you non-Coloradans, Blue Spruce is the Colorado state tree.
Bluebunny is not hydration brother. How many times do I need to tell you?
Hey, I could ride McClure a million times and still love it (so long as we don’t roam south thru Montrose.) You guys enjoy the ride. Rubber side down! Go USA!

Blue Bunny is hydration, bro. It’s my go-to. Maybe I need you here to point me in another direction. Apparently you haven’t told me quite enough 😂
