Montana: Where are All the People?

At more than 147,000 square miles, Montana is a big state. Fourth-largest in the US. Today is our sixth day of riding in Montana, and we’re not done yet. Rolling mostly west to east, we ride along the Musselshell River, entered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition on May 20, 1805. The end of our ride brings us to Billings, home of Beartooth Harley-Davidson. Billings is Montana’s largest city, with a population of nearly 120,000. Montana is the third least densely populated state; only Alaska and Wyoming have fewer people per square mile. Where are all the peeps?

And now, today’s photos.

Bonus pic from last night. How could I not include this?
Taking a well-deserved break after two hours of morning riding.
Randy’s butt was sore, and apparently so was his back.
Clarence circles the gas station, apparently cuz you can never have too much practice.
Gas in Montana is way cheaper than in Washington state, which seems to amuse Randy.
Mark and Clarence at a post office parking lot in rural Montana, which is somewhat redundant. Seriously.
In Billings, waiting in the hotel lobby to head for dinner.
At Ciao Mambo, ready to order.
House salad. No cucumbers.
Ciopinno. Thank you
Pizza for me and Walter jr. should have some left over for tomorrow’s ride.
