Four States, One Day

On Day Two, we ride through four states — Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming ––and end up at the world’s largest elkhorn arch. The Afton, Wyoming, arch is 18 feet tall, 75 feet wide and is composed of 3,011 intertwined elk antlers. Along the way, we pass through little-known coal mining community Kemmerer, Wyoming, where JC Penney was founded in 1902. The day’s highlight is the Flaming Gorge Dam, which produces more than 344 million kilowatt hours of power each year, and is famous for 30-pound trophy lake trout. Fun fact: Utahns pronounce it, “Flaming Garge,” which rhymes with Large.

  2. Hey Gary: I prefer your long winded eloquence to the 99 words. Just the facts Ma’am is ok for Dragnet but I like when you describe the scene then I feel I am riding along with you. Just sayin.QJ
