100 Words or Less!

Today, I leave on a 17-day, 4,000-mile trip with a new travel companion, Walter the wandering wolf. My biggest challenge is keeping to my commitment of posting less than 100 words per day. Those first two sentences already took up one-third of today’s word allotment! Highlights of Day One’s journey include McClure Pass, only 20 miles from my front door, and Grand Mesa, the world’s largest mesa that tops out at 11,221 feet. We’ll explore Douglas Pass, too. After a ride of 248 miles – 4 hours and 55 minutes in the saddle – we end the day in Rangely, Colorado.

And now, today’s photos.

Walter, all set for 17 days on the road. I think he’ll be a good addition to the posse.
All ready for kickstands up, at precisely 8:30 am. Wearing the Danish national soccer jersey is a Day One tradition.
Walter the wandering wolf, seemingly content by a lake on the Grand Mesa.
Clarence takes a moment to soak in the sun in Grand Junction as the temps near 95 degrees.
Dinner at Coach’s Corner in Rangely, about 200 feet from our hotel. Mark Mark is having a patty melt with onion rings. Yum. And see you tomorrow.

  2. Hi Gary–Looks like a fantastic route and great to see you still doing the summer ride. Love the 100 word limit but your prose is so good I a sorry to see it curtailed. Enjoy!! Rich and Paula
